We all know the kitchen is where all the Thanksgiving action happens, but the dining room is where we really celebrate and where everyone gathers, settles, and makes memories. Here are some creative Thanksgiving dining room decor ideas that can be done with just a little time.

I appreciate and enjoy details, so most of my designs will have a few details that take a little time and effort, but they are always well worth it. This Thanksgiving dining room decor has some handmade touches, some re-purposed Halloween decor, and involves moving around decor I already have.

Like my family room, mantel, and entryway Thanksgiving decor, I have chosen neutral decorations, with a few hints of color, for the dining room.

DIY pinwheel banner

My vintage chalkboard is the backdrop for the girls’ school photos and a handmade garland. You can easily make a paper pinwheel garland, a coffee filter flower garland, or a combination of both – like my garland. Pinwheel’s are so easy, just do an accordion fold and use a glue gun or staples to hold it together. The coffee filter flowers are easy too, the DIY instructions are here.

Free printable thanksgiving banner

You’ll notice a book theme around my home, and the holidays are no exception to also decorate with old books. I made this floating thanks banner with a book page background. All you have to do is print, cut, and display.

I couldn’t let go of the Halloween tree branch quite yet, so I cut off a few branches, stripped off the dead leaves, and re-purposed them into my Thanksgiving dining room decor. I used this leaf paper punch and glued on my own leaves – using pages from an old book.

The other side of the dining room also has a few Thanksgiving touches, including my book page dahlia flower that I made years ago. This book case also has my marbled pumpkins, wood crate, and one of my free fall printables. This is a great space to display some of my vintage pieces as well as using a teal and orange to tie everything together.
