Awesome and easy DIY Thanksgiving chalkboard art

Awesome and easy DIY Thanksgiving chalkboard art
This DIY Thanksgiving chalkboard art idea came to me when I was admiring various word art decor. My handwriting is horrible, but I wanted to make something for the entryway. You are going to love this awesome and easy DIY Thanksgiving chalkboard art because you can customize the words and create artwork for any style or season.

I love vintage frames and I’ve had this large open one that I display in various spots around the house. It was the perfect frame for my chalkboard art idea. I got foam core board from the Dollar Store and cut it to fit inside the frame. Then I sprayed the board with chalkboard paint, but I’m not entirely sure that step was necessary since the board was black.

Removable vinyl sticker
I seasoned the board with some chalk and rubbed it around to give the entire board a dusting. Then I centered my vinyl sticker onto the board. Be careful when removing the backing from the sticker because the chalk seasoning can cause the sticker to lift up too.

With your sticker in place and the backing removed, I rubbed chalk all over the entire board being careful when going over the vinyl sticker. I used almost an entire piece of chalk for this step. Then I blew off the excess chalk dust.

Next, it’s time to remove the vinyl sticker – be careful to not touch the board too much as you pull off the sticker. I wasn’t sure if my idea would work, but as I began peeling back the sticker I could see how great it was turning out. Then, I placed the board into the frame and hung it in our entryway.

This easy, and dare I say fun DIY Thanksgiving chalkboard art is inexpensive and beautiful. You don’t have to have lovely penmanship to create this amazing chalkboard art and you can customize it with any words you want. I got my vinyl sticker from Household Words on Etsy.

It doesn’t take much to add some Thanksgiving wall art to your entryway. I hope you’re inspired to create your own chalkboard art. Check out my Thanksgiving decor in the family room and for our fireplace mantel.
