This is the first fall season in our home and it has been so fun adding fall touches. I love using what I already have as well as bringing in some nature to give our home some fall vibes. Adding a few easy and simple Halloween decorations to our festive fall home was so much fun and now it’s almost ready for my murder mystery dinner party. Be sure to subscribe to my blog and you’ll get updates on the dinner and more!

My mom’s birthday is on Halloween, so it’s always been fun decorating for her birthday get-togethers and my girls enjoy spooky touches around the house too. To get ready for my murder mystery dinner, I was able to use a lot of things I already have, but I added a few new additions to create a classy spooky vibe. The large tree branch over the dining table has also been used for the Emma Tea Party as well as Quinn’s Fairy Garden Birthday Party. I’m not sure where the branch will go next, but it is such a fun and whimsical decoration. I added some battery-operated fairy lights and a few fake black birds to the branch. The table centerpiece is a burlap table runner, three pumpkins and some gourds from Walmart, some fall stems, and battery-operated votives. This tablescape is easy and affordable and when the time comes, I can’t wait to add the table settings to it!

The backdrop to the dining table is a fun little scene with more tree branches, my DIY man in the moon, and decor I’ve had for a while. There’s something about brass candlesticks in a dining room or on the mantel that I just love. I also added some faux leaves (from the Dollar store) to the wall to create a wallpaper look. It’s such an easy way to add some whimsy and color.

Across from the dining room is a little nook area that is always fun to redecorate. I grabbed the vintage cubby from Quinn’s room and decorated it with another branch, candles, and these faux vintage bottles that I made several years ago. My IKEA wall gallery got another little makeover with some vintage photos of kids from The Graphics Fairy. I love these free vintage photos, and I just had to send them off to print at Sam’s Club. With a few pumpkins and a cozy blanket, the scene is set.

My favorite of all the easy and simple Halloween decorations are the bats. I didn’t realize how many came in the package, but there were enough to decorate the mantel, the entry, and even the powder room. They came with double-sided foam stickers that are strong enough to stick to the wall, but can easily be removed. And the bats wings can be bent to add dimension to the one-dimensional decoration. I like to start with the smallest sized bat and then have the bats fan out using all three sizes. Another new addition to our home is Mr. Bones. He’s a posable skeleton, and the girls love moving him around as well as putting hats and accessories on him.

The entryway has the best easy and simple Halloween decorations. I love the neutral colors and simplicity of it all. More bats made it to our entryway accent wall – they’re coming from the front door, across the mirror/console, and up. The Dollar store had black and cream cheesecloth to help with a creepy vibe. It’s not often that easy and simple Halloween decorations only cost $1 and provide such a big impact. To get these to hang right, I first hung it up at a few points and then I cut up the bottom to get a ragged look. I also cut slits throughout to give it an aged look. The branch came from our yard, and it’s that simple! The leftover bats made it to the powder room to put just a touch of Halloween in there.
