When my husband asked me what I wanted for Christmas this year… you could hear crickets. Seriously, there’s nothing that popped to my mind, so once I gave it some thought, I started thinking about cool gift baskets that I would love to receive. This amazing personalized cutting board gift basket idea has all the things I love! The personalized cutting board is from a small business – I LOVE supporting small biz. There’s a fun DIY piece to it, a homemade item, and the store bought things are so cute, affordable, and functional.
Amazing personalized cutting board gift basket idea – mom’s recipe
Katrina, owner and designer of PNW Farmhouse Design Co., offers amazing and unique products from her online shop. I met Katrina at a blogging conference this summer and she is so funny and nice. I loved finding out that she is from the pacific northwest and I thoroughly enjoyed a fun dinner with her and a few other amazing bloggers that welcomed me into their group. When I discovered her small shop I couldn’t wait to share it with you!
When I visited her online shop, I fell in love with the personalized cutting boards and knew which recipe I wanted to have engraved onto a cutting board. However, it doesn’t have to be a recipe, it could be a letter, a blessing, wedding vows, a poem, anything that’s personal to you. My mom’s broccoli casserole recipe has been in the family for years, passed down from her grandma and modified over the years. Everyone loves this casserole and asks her for the recipe, often. To have the recipe engraved onto the board, I just scanned in the handwritten recipe and uploaded the file during the checkout process. It’s so easy to place your order, you can select the style of cutting board, and then upload the file – that’s it!
There’s something special about my handwritten recipe – it’s in Sawyer’s handwriting. Sawyer is my mom’s first grandchild and they have a special bond. It would have been awesome to scan in my great grandma’s recipe card, but it was too edited for this purpose due to changes and tweaks over the years. I know my mom will love this personalized and meaningful gift. She can display the cutting board in her kitchen and be reminded of so many cherished holiday dinners where she shared her famous recipe with others, and then she can also use the backside of the cutting board for functional purposes. With a little mineral oil occasionally rubbed onto the wood, this cutting board won’t dry out and get cracks – it will be a keepsake for years to come.
Personalized cutting boards aren’t the only awesome product in Katrina’s shop, there are several other personalized items as well as unique designs for the home. When you support Katrina’s small business, to get 20% off your total purchase, be sure to use coupon code: sycamore20
Amazing personalized cutting board gift basket idea – DIY item
The next part of this amazing personalized cutting board gift basket idea is the fun and easy DIY. All you need is a small mason jar and a few ingredients to make stove top potpourri. You can find several recipes as well as a free printable for your stove top potpourri at DeliaCreates.com. The printable is adorable and has the easy instructions for how to make the potpourri. This is the recipe that I used:
- cutie orange (just the peel will be used for the potpourri)
- 2 sprigs of rosemary (fresh pine sprigs can also be used)
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 1 tbsp of whole cloves
- 1 tbsp of nutmeg (a whole nutmeg can also be used)
- 1/3 cup of fresh cranberries
- 1-2 stars of anise
I love this DIY gift idea for kids to put together. It would make a great teacher gift, neighbor gift, or to help fill a gift basket for the homebody in your life. Like I mentioned, I thought about gift baskets that I would like, and this DIY potpourri is so fun.
Amazing personalized cutting board gift basket idea – homebody theme
Finally, to pull together this amazing personalized cutting board gift basket idea, I found this soft fleece blanket from the Dollar Spot at Target. The functional and decorative basket is also an affordable find to hold all the goodies. I added a box of Cheez-its crackers for fun, made a mini loaf of dessert bread, and then put together a fun gift tag. I enjoy going out, but I’m definitely a homebody. The items in this gift basket remind me of all the good things associated with staying home; childhood memories, homemade food, good smells, and a cozy blanky.
