Simple ways to celebrate new years at home

I have never gone ‘out’ to ring in the new year. As a kid, I can remember the adults having small home parties, nothing crazy. I spent a few at friends’ houses, just playing games and eating good food. And as an adult, it’s been pretty much of the same. I’m a homebody and I’m not a night owl. However, new years can still be a fun holiday to share with family and friends – it’s all about what you make of it. There’s not one way to celebrate or do things, so I want to share a few simple ways to celebrate new years at home – all you need is a printer!

My daughters are 14 and 6 years old so finding things they’ll both enjoy can be challenging, but I think I came up with a few fun activities to make some memories. I have created a few free printables to print and cut for you to offer your family or guests this new year’s eve. I’ve also included a few other bloggers’ free printables to enjoy as well. You can print out these activities in a flash and then focus on the important part – food and drink!

Heidi of Happiness is Homemade has an awesome printable New Years word search. She has a wonderful blog full of resources and inspiration to check out.

My 6 year old daughter loves to play Bingo and Amber of Crazy Little Projects offers this adorable Bingo game on her blog – and I love how she uses marshmallows as markers! Check out her blog for tons of ideas and resources.

For you or your guests who enjoy an introspective moment on New Year’s Eve, I bring you Looking Ahead To The Next Year Cards. Just print out several, cut them in half, and leave a pile of pens next to them. I think simple and intentional goals are easier to achieve, and writing them down is the first step.

I also created these conversation cards to foster relationship, help kill time, and to help you reflect on the previous year. With the pandemic, election, and moving halfway across the country, I will be the first to admit that I’m not often thinking fondly of 2020, but there is so much to be thankful for and there are many positive memories to acknowledge – if I just let myself think back on it. You can print and cut these cards – place them around the food or on the coffee table, anywhere where people gather and chat.

If you take a lot of photos throughout the year, you may consider capturing them in a Chatbook. With Chatbooks, you can easily upload your favorite phone photos of the year and have them printed in an adorable slim booklet. Collect these moments in multiple Chatbooks and use them as coffee table decor so that your family and others can see your memories. There are several coupons for Chatbooks, one is code: TENCB to get $10 off your Chatbook.

Thank you so much for reading this post for simple ways to celebrate new years at home. I hope you’re inspired to try a few of the activities. At the very least, I want to wish you a happy new year, full of blessings and opportunities. Stay safe and have fun!
