Super simple aromatherapy shower melts

Super simple aromatherapy shower melts

If you haven’t used a shower melt yet, you are missing out. I have perfected a recipe to make super simple aromatherapy shower melts. These are perfect and affordable because I only take showers and I love aromatherapy and feeling relaxed or energized during my showers.

I love essential oils, and using homemade shower melts are a wonderful way to infuse aromatherapy into your morning or evening shower routine. The best part is that you can choose your own scent and size of shower melt. Your shower melts can be colorful or just natural white, and the ingredients can be used for other uses as well.

Tips: Gradually add water as you mix the ingredients and use a silicone mold so that it’s easy to remove your melts. Put the filled silicone mold into a Ziploc bag to keep the scent locked up while the melts harden in the fridge.

You’ll want to store your melts in an airtight container so that they don’t lose potency. I love this faux snow globe idea for decorating the top of a Mason jar. Mason jars or upcycled glass jars are such a great way to store shower melts, bath bombs, bath salts, bubble bath, etc.

Shower melt recipe

1 cup baking soda
1/2 cup sea salt or epson salt
30-35 drops essential oils (check out my favorite blends below)
4 – 5 teaspoons water (add one tsp at a time)
1 teaspoon fractionated coconut oil (optional)

  1. Pour epson salts into bowl
  2. Add essential oils
  3. Add fractionated coconut oil (optional)
  4. Mix thoroughly
  5. Add baking soda and mix thoroughly
  6. Add water – one teaspoon at a time until you have a loose paste consistency.
  7. Scoop into silicone molds and press down mixture until solid
  8. Put mold into a large Ziplock bag and dry in refrigerator over night.
  9. Carefully remove melts from mold and store in airtight container.

DIY snow globe

The DIY snow globe is super easy, but a few things to note – make sure your cute toys actually fit under the clear plastic ornament, and you will need to glue all the lid pieces together. When the clear ornament ball is glued to the ring and the ring is glued to the lid, then your entire lid will open nicely and allow easy access to the shower melts, salts, etc.

There is no need to add water to this faux snow globe – and I imagine it could be quite a mess. I’ve made snow globes with water and witch hazel, and they’re cool and fun, but they’re temporary and risky with my youngest who’s obsessed with shaking every snow globe she sees.

Decorate Mason jars

I have found some of the cutest ways to decorate Mason jars for Christmas gifts. I think a Mason jar looks cute as is, or with a simple ribbon tied around the lid, or even really decked out like the examples below. Let your imagination run wild with the decorative possibilities. I think these ideas will get you inspired!

Amazing aromatherapy scents

These aromatherapy recipes are some of the best I’ve found. I have a lot of Young Living essential oils, but not all of them. I do have my favorites and that’s what I prefer to use in my handmade recipes. If you’re starting out, just having one essential oil is enough. And if you discover you love essential oils and want to experience all of their benefits, then you can grow your inventory as your budget and interest allow. The Young Living starter kit is pretty amazing, but it can be overwhelming if you’re new to essential oils. Although, the starter kit can also make things easy for someone new.

essential oils

I love the Thieves essential oil the most and highly recommend it for its antifungal, antiviral, and antibacterial properties – and if you love the smell of cinnamon, cloves, a touch of rosemary, lemon, and eucalyptus, then you’ll be as addicted to this oil as me. You can learn more about my favorite essential oils here: Thieves, lemon, lavender.
