Winter decorating home tour

Once the Christmas decor was stored away, I got busy decorating for the cool winter months. It often feels a little bare once all the excess Christmas decor is gone, but one of the things I love about winter decor is that heavy pieces and lots of layering work visually and aesthetically. It also doesn’t hurt to have multiple throw blankets and pillows around to just add a cozy feeling. I hope our winter decorating home tour inspires your own after-Christmas redecorating!

This year’s Christmas decor has been so fun to create. My girls helped with several of the projects, and it felt good to spend little and create my own decor. Some of the decor is disposable, like the balloon arches, but most of it will be carefully stored away and used again. Our colorful decor has launched our family into the Christmas spirit and the anticipation of our youngest is a joy to see. You can find the detailed posts at the very end of this one, but for a quick overview, here is our colorful Christmas home tour!

Best of thanksgiving 2019

The best of Thanksgiving 2019

This is the time of the year that can be a little tricky when decorating my home. Most of the fall decor has morphed into Halloween or the pumpkins aren’t looking their best anymore. And once Halloween is over, we have about three and a half weeks until Thanksgiving, so the window of decorating time is small. I’ve made a few changes around the house to create Thanksgiving inspiration 2019.

In the past, I have rarely decorated specifically for Thanksgiving. I’m usually busy planning and preparing my Christmas decor ideas. Besides, good food takes the stage at Thanksgiving – is anyone really going to care about the table setting or home decor?

Well, I think some do. While some people may not notice, I know there are those that appreciate the efforts of a nice place setting. I love creating a pretty tablescape and I love surprising people with personal touches to help them feel truly welcome and invited into my haven.

Fall + Halloween decorating inspiration – 2019

I had so much fun adding some fall and Halloween decor to my home. I don’t like to spend a lot of money on seasonal decorating so I try to redecorate using what I have and also by adding a few new pieces to make things festive. Here are the highlights of our home’s fall and Halloween decor – they were fun, simple, and affordable.

These are the same ghosts and messy branch from the mantel –
I wanted to get the outside ready for trick-or-treaters and stop cleaning leaves!

Well that’s a wrap for fall home inspiration 2019! I know Thanksgiving is technically during the fall, but I think it deserves a post and decor refresh all on its own. I tend to use more neutral tones for Thanksgiving. And Halloween is so fun, festive, and goes so well with all the brightly colored pumpkins – that’s just how I organize it my mind. Plus any excuse to decorate is a good excuse! Thanks for checking out my fall home tour, I hope you felt inspired and motivated to decorate your home.
